SUCCESS today, in a manner of speaking...
I loaded the subs into Subtitle Creator, then immediately saved them.
Next I took this new file and using AVStoDVD (dvd creator) created a fake DVD (with only blank green screen) containing these subtitles.
Next I extracted these subtitles from the new "DVD" files, using VobSub Subtitle Ripper Wizard.
Now I was able to load THESE subtitles into BDSup2Sub.
Even tho the subtitles were still defective (in the sense of misassignment of Character and Anti-Aliasing) I was able to cheat the situation by trying various settings until I had created a black box outline around the subtitles. THIS, at least, gave me subtitles of moderate quality, able to be read by the average Thai (I hope lol)
Then I used BDSup2Sub to change the frame rate (I reprocess all my movies to play slightly faster at 25fps to avoid the stutter-step look of the standard 23.976 fps to 25 fps PAL conversion that would occur during DVD mastering), re-sized the subtitles (in the height only) and re-positioned them to all be at the very bottom of the screen.
Anyway!!! I'm so happy, since I'd wanted to be able to present this movie to my students for some time... and with your contribution... and really, your follow-up messages to me that gave me the encouragement to try some new idea and procedure!

I wish I could understand the instructions for POSTING a subtitle file on the 1080ip forum! The instructions are all in Thai graphics, and, as thus, can't be translated via Google's "Google Translate" add-on, and I can't read Thai lol

I create a weekly DVD movie for my Thai English students, so this isn't about just being able to "watch" a movie, for myself.
I need to load the subs into BDSub2Sup in order to re-size the subs larger, adjust timing, set the color palates for the subs properly, and re-position the subs to the very bottom of the screen.
Then... master a DVD, with these subs and HQ version of the movie... for my students.
I do this every week, and only one other time did I encounter problems with the subs like this...
Looking at your subs in "Subtitle Creator" program... the assignments for each part of the subs (text, outline, background, anti-aliasing) is wrong (like "outline" changes the text color, etc) plus it changes every few subtitles to having a solid background, then not....
So I can't figure out a way to fix these... And I really wanted to build a DVD of this movie for my students... but I guess, for the time being, it's impossible.
Could I ask you how (or where) you got the Thai subs?
Did you extract them from a DVD? Do you still have the DVD?

Unfortunately, these subtitles are DAMAGED, and will not load into the BDSup2Sub program, nor any other program, without severe errors.
Mikey... do you have another source for Subtitles for "Stranger Than Fiction" ???
Even TEXT subtitles would be appreciated...
